Wedding Plans: Part II
MKD and I are in disagreement over the wedding. Specifically, whether or not to include the menu we will be having as an insert along with the invitation. I personally like to know what is going to be available so I can decide if I should eat before I arrive if the food options are crap or pig out at the event. MKD does not think it is necessary to include it.
Here’s the thing. We were originally going to do a buffet with a lot of food choices. But our caterer was able to swing a sit down meal for not much more money so we went with that. So with a sit down dinner, everyone gets the same first course and then you either get the chicken dish or the vegetarian dish as the main course. But there’s another element to it…we are having 6 butlered hors d’oeuvres passed around during the cocktail hour after the reception. My logic is that if someone is not into the first/main course, then they should pig out on the hors d’oeuvres because we have picked out a nice varied selection of unlimited quantities. So if a menu is not included with the invitation, people might hold back on the hors d’oeuvres wanting to wait for the main meal, not like the first/main course, and then be hungry all night. But if the menu options are included, then people can be prepared and know what to expect at the wedding. Make sense?
Other than that, we are working on nailing down a photographer and DJ now. I have a few in the works, but am open to more recommendations. We are quickly running out of time and people are being booked up for the wedding season.
So by mid-April, wedding plans should get cranked into high gear. It is difficult to fathom how all these details and logistics will come together in unison on one particular day during a pre-determined time frame.
